With the acquisition of Darkom gas distribution, HEP Plin further strengthened the position of the largest distributor in Croatia in terms of the length of the gas network in its ownership. State-owned power utility HEP, namely its gas distribution subsidiary HEP Plin, bought the gas distribution business of municipal utility company Darkom from Daruvar for some 470,000 euros. Thus, it acquired 166 kilometers of gas distribution network in Bjelovar-Bilogora County.
With this acquisition, HEP Plin will manage almost 4,600 kilometers of gas network in Osijek-Baranja, Pozega-Slavonia, Virovitica-Podravina, Vukovar-Srijem, Krapina-Zagorje and Bjelovar-Bilogora counties, with more than 100,000 customers.
Darkom gas distribution operates in the southeastern part of Bjelovar-Bilogora County, has more than 6,000 customers, of which 5,300 from the household category, and manages 166 kilometers of distribution network through which it annually delivers about 12 million cubic meters of gas.
Until the merger with HEP Plin, Darkom’s gas distribution continues to operate as an independent business entity, but within the HEP Group.
