During the upcoming official visit of the Croatian Foreign Minister to Iraq on 25–26 October, discussions will include the potential transport of Iraqi crude oil through the Croatian JANAF pipeline. Talks are set to cover broader economic cooperation, expansion of defense industry ties, and opportunities for using Croatian ports and JANAF’s infrastructure for oil shipments.
Iraqi officials have shown strong interest in utilizing this route as a reliable export channel for their energy resources. Croatia, having achieved independence from Russian energy supplies, is positioned through JANAF to deliver sufficient crude not only to its domestic market but also to neighboring countries, including Hungary and Slovakia.
The Croatian Foreign Ministry emphasized that this development reinforces Croatia’s role as a regional energy hub and enhances its strategic visibility across Europe.
