Croatia: CROPEX electricity trading surges 90% year-on-year in October 2025

In October 2025, a total of 1,449,339.1 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian power exchange CROPEX, representing a 32.9% increase compared to September and a 90.2% rise year-on-year. Of the total, 1,203,268.5 MWh was traded on the day-ahead market and 246,070.6 MWh on the intraday market.

The average daily baseload price on the day-ahead market reached 113.19 euros/MWh, up 18.3% from the previous month, while the average peak price increased by 29.6% to 118.54 euros/MWh. The average intraday market price was 114.41 euros/MWh, 16.6% higher than in September.

Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market stood at 38,815.1 MWh.

CROPEX, launched in March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, is jointly owned by the Croatian transmission system operator (HOPS) and the electricity market operator (HROTE). The intraday market began operating in April 2017, and since June 2018, the CROPEX day-ahead market has been coupled with the Multi-Regional Coupling (MRC) markets via the Croatian-Slovenian border.
