Croatian consumer goods distributor Atlantic Group said that it has commissioned its first solar power plant aimed at reducing energy costs and carbon dioxide emissions.

The statement from the company said that the annual electricity generation of the Vukovina rooftop solar power plant is estimated to about 440,000 kWh, while CO2 emissions will be reduced by 3,250 tons per year.

The 300 kW solar power plant was installed by local energy solutions provider E.ON Solar, consisting of 1,020 solar panels mounted on the rooftop of Vukovina distribution center in the capital Zagreb. The company expected the return on investment in just a year and a half.

The power plant will generate electricity for Atlantic Group’s own consumption, with eventual surpluses being transferred to the national distribution network. The facility is the first in a series being a part of the company’s green transformation.
