The selection of a clearing house with experience in providing services for the EU natural gas markets is key to the development of Balkan Gas Hub as an organised exchange market in Central and Southeastern Europe.
The cooperation with the leading Hungarian clearing house, KELER CCP, will also have great added value in the implementation of regional physical and market infrastructure projects. This includes the implementation of the strategic Vertical Gas Corridor initiative, which will ensure energy security in the region, according to caretaker Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov, who spoke during the signing of an agreement for the provision of clearing services between Balkan Gas Hub EAD and the Hungarian clearing house KELER CCP, quoted in a ministry statement.
According to Malinov, the joint project on the implementation of clearing and settlement services for the Bulgarian market will contribute to improving the functioning of the regional gas market and minimising the risks for market participants. “The signing is a result of KELER CCP’s successful participation in the public and transparent procedure for the selection of a clearing service provider for the Balkan Gas Hub CEO,” he emphasised.
