Westinghouse has further reinforced Bulgaria’s domestic industrial base supporting the country’s new nuclear build by signing an additional set of cooperation agreements with local companies. The latest memoranda were concluded during the company’s third Supplier Symposium in Sofia in November 2025, expanding Bulgarian participation in the planned nuclear power expansion at Kozloduy.
With the signing of seven new memoranda of understanding, the number of Bulgarian firms involved in the construction of two AP1000 reactor units at NPP Kozloduy has risen to 36. These agreements are intended to enable local manufacturers and service providers to contribute across a wide range of project activities, strengthening domestic involvement in the build.
The potential cooperation spans key equipment and services required for nuclear construction, including mechanical components, electrical systems, pressure vessels, storage tanks and auxiliary installations. Companies joining the latest round of agreements include ENEQ Consult, Honeywell, KZU–ZLMK, NEOPET, TANGRA–AV and VAPTECH.
According to NPP Kozloduy New Builds management, expanding the participation of Bulgarian industry remains a core objective of the project. The growing network of domestic partners reflects confidence in the technical expertise and competitiveness of local companies, as well as a strategic effort to anchor the nuclear expansion more firmly within Bulgaria’s industrial economy.
