Bulgarian thermal power plant Bobov Dol temporarily halted its operation mainly due to low electricity prices on energy exchanges, according to the statement of TPP’s CEO Lyubomir Spasov.
Th two units are undergoing maintenance during the downtime, with the first unit scheduled to be put back into operation during the weekend, while the second unit should be back online shortly after the first one.
In 2023, TPP Bobov Dol experienced intermittent shutdowns, primarily planned for maintenance or in response to fluctuating electricity prices on the exchange.
Spasov stressed that the plant is not experiencing any technical issues causing the shutdown, and it strategically paused operations for maintenance purposes while electricity prices on the exchange are not favourable.
