Bulgarian thermal power plant TPP Bobov Dol reported a net profit of 2.6 million euros in 2024, a decline from the 6 million euros profit in 2023. The company’s total revenues fell to 191.4 million euros, marking an 8.4% decrease compared to the previous year, primarily due to a 20% drop in product sales. Total expenditures also decreased by 6.5%, reaching 188.8 million euros in 2024.
TPP Bobov Dol is a 630 MW coal-fired power plant located in southwestern Bulgaria. It was commissioned in 2000 and privatized in 2008, with local consortium Energy MK being the sole owner of the plant.
In early 2024, CEO Lyubomir Spasov announced a temporary shutdown of the plant’s operations, driven mainly by low electricity prices on energy exchanges. During the downtime, the plant’s two units are undergoing maintenance. The first unit is expected to resume operations over the weekend, with the second unit scheduled to come back online shortly after.
