The management of Kozloduy Nuclear power plant has announced a public tender for the transportation of a block transformer from the site of the Belene NPP to the site of the operating nuclear power plant. The purpose is to ensure a reserve of transformers, according to a notice in the Public Procurement Agency (PPA). The estimated value of the procurement is BGN 1.5 million (around 750.000 euros) pre-VAT.
The transformers can be transported in two ways. One is by land only, using the national road network. In view of the weight of the load, which is around 400 tons, the transport will be organized by the road control authorities, who will escort it along a route agreed upon with them. The other option is by water, along the Danube from the Belene N-plant to Kozloduy. A small part of the route will be the transportation of the transformer to the port of Belene NPP and from the port of Kozloduy NPP to the final destination. The feasibility of the second option will depend directly on the level of the Danube.
The deadline for submitting offers or stating an intention to participate is August 12, and a preliminary selection of tenderers will be done on August 14.
