Bulgaria’s production of electricity in March 2021 increased by 13.5 %, compared to February, to 4,270 GWh, while consumption of electricity rose by 6.4 % on monthly basis and amounted to 3,329 GWh, according to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute. Consumption of natural gas in March 2021 increased by 8.6 % and amounted to 377 million cubic meters, while its production remained the same as in the previous month and amounted to 3 million cubic meters.
Compared to March 2020, production of electricity increased by 9.3 %, while its consumption rose by 8.3 %. Consumption of natural gas increased by 24.8 % compared to March 2020, while its production dropped by 40 %. In March, production of unleaded petrol increased by 24.2 % and amounted to 113,000 tons, while its consumption decreased by 5.4 % and amounted to 35,000 tons. Production of diesel in March increased by 45.1 % compared to the previous month and amounted to 251,000 tons, while its consumption rose by 1.9 % and amounted to 165,000 tons. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased by 15.6 % and amounted to 37,000 tons, while its production also increased by 40 % and amounted to 7,000 tons. In the same period, production of solid fuels increased by 3.2 % to 2,009 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource also rose by 4.2 % to 2,097 thousand tons.
