Electricity production in Bulgaria in the period between 1 January and 4 February 2024 has decreased by 17% compared to same period in 2023, to 4.17 TWh, according to the data published by electricity transmission system operator ESO.
In the same period, electricity consumption increased by 5% reaching 4.16 TWh, while electricity imports amounted to 348 GWh.
Baseload power plants (coal, nuclear) produced 3.49 TWh, which is 21% less than in 2023.
The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources in the transmission network rose by 45% to 226.2 GWh, while RES share in the distribution network increased by 33% to 225.7 GWh.
