In January 2021 production of electricity increased by 6.9 %, compared to December, to 4,156 GWh, while consumption of electricity rose by 4.5 % on monthly basis and amounted to 3,530 GWh, according to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute.
Consumption of natural gas in January 2021 decreased by 0.8 % and amounted to 381 million cubic meters, while its production remained the same and amounted to 4 million cubic meters. Compared to January 2020, production of electricity increased by 4.9 %, while its consumption fell by 4.1 %. Consumption of natural gas increased by 5.8 % compared to January 2020, while its production dropped by 33.3 %. In January, production of unleaded petrol decreased by 6.7 % and amounted to 84,000 tons, while its consumption increased by 12.9 % and amounted to 35,000 tons. Production of diesel in January decreased by 13.3 % compared to the previous month and amounted to 169,000 tons, while its consumption dropped by 21.4 % and amounted to 143,000 tons. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) decreased by 9.4 % and amounted to 29,000 tons, while its production increased by 20 % and amounted to 6,000 tons. In the same period, production of solid fuels decreased by 17.9 % to 1,813 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource also fell by 17.1 % to 1,914 thousand tons.
