Base power plants in Bulgaria increased their share in total electricity production by 27.95% annually in the period from the beginning of the year to April 17, 2022, according to data released by the Energy System Operator on Tuesday.
In the period from January 1 to April 17, 2022, they produced 14.72 million MWh of electricity, compared to 11.51 million MWh a year earlier.
Electricity production in Bulgaria increased by 19.26% in 2022, to 17.21 million MWh, compared to 14.43 million MWh in the same period in 2021.
At the same time, electricity consumption in Bulgaria increased by 1.93% year on year, to 13.07 million MWh.
The share of renewable energy sources in the transmission network increased by 25.35%, and in the distribution network by 21.2%.
The trend of declining electricity production in hydropower plants in 2022 continued, this time by 33.77% annually.
