Bulgaria: Electricity, gas and fuel consumption rise in July 2025 amid mixed production trends

According to the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, electricity production in July 2025 rose by 8.1% compared to June, reaching 3,270 GWh. Electricity consumption also increased by 15.1% month-on-month, totaling 2,766 GWh.

Natural gas consumption in July 2025 grew by 7.4%, reaching 159 million cubic meters, while production remained steady at 1 million cubic meters. Compared to July 2024, electricity production fell by 6.6%, while consumption slightly increased by 0.1%. Natural gas consumption rose by 3.2% year-on-year.

In July, production of unleaded petrol increased by 0.7% to 135,000 tons. Diesel production grew by 4.1% to 278,000 tons, while consumption increased by 10.1% to 262,000 tons. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rose by 5.4% to 39,000 tons, but production fell by 11.1% to 8,000 tons. Solid fuel production increased by 53% to 1,346 thousand tons, and consumption also grew by 44.4% to 1,386 thousand tons.
