According to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO, production of electricity in Bulgaria in the first three months of 2019 has increased by 4.36 % compared to the same period in 2018 and reached 12.76 TWh.
Bulgaria’s electricity consumption dropped in the first quarter of the year, by 0.95 % reaching a total of 11.05 TWh. However, electricity exports increased by 59.83 % in the same period to 1.71 TWh. The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network increased by 8.15 % to 332.4 GWh, while RES share in the country’s distribution network increased by 27.86 % to 464.4 GWh.
