Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) recorded a net profit in the amount of 371.5 million euros in the first nine months of 2021, which is more than five times higher compared to a profit of 72.5 million euros achieved in the same period last year.
BEH’s revenues rose to 390 million euros from 86.4 million euros in the first nine months of 2020, mainly due to much higher revenue from dividends. Dividends from the operator of Bulgaria’s sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy quadrupled to 311 million euros, while those from natural gas transmission network operator Bulgartransgaz rose from zero to 40.7 million euros.
At the same time, dividends from electricity transmission system operator ESO grew more than ten times to 31 million euros, while natural gas supplier Bulgargaz provided 7.3 million euros in dividend, compared to zero in the previous period.
In the first nine months of 2021, BEH’s operating expenses rose by 23.5 % reaching 34.3 million euros. The company’s assets went up to 3.62 billion euros at the end of September from 3.16 billion euros at the end of 2020.
