In the period of the application of the amended decision on establishing binding renewable energy targets in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), namely between June and September, the Operator for renewable energy sources and efficient cogeneration (OIEiEK) concluded a total of 120 contracts for the purchase of electricity produced by renewable energy sources.
According to OIEiEK, total capacity of RES facilities for which the contracts have been signed amounts to 10.216 MW, with expected annual electricity generation of 15,324 MWh.
OIEiEK Director Edim Memic said that the signed contracts refer to solar power plants, hydropower plants and biogas power plants, from which the OIEiEK buys electricity at reference purchase prices. Thanks to the increase in binding RES targets, since June there has been an increase in the number of power plants connected to the electricity network, thereby increasing the share of renewable sources in the total electricity generation.
Although with the expiration of the Action Plan for the use of renewable energy sources in FBiH, OIEiEK is no longer allowed to sign agreements on the purchase of electricity at guaranteed prices, it recorded significant interest in investing in renewable energy projects.
In the first six months of 2022, a total of 242.8 GWh of electricity from renewable energy sources was produced in FBiH, from a total of 414 facilities connected to the electricity network, which is an increase in the production of electricity from renewable sources compared to 2019 and 2020.
