Local company Sun Electricity has submitted a request to the Government of the Republic of Srpska for a concession to develop a solar power plant near Nevesinje, in the Herzegovina region. The proposed project, named Zlatac 1, is estimated at €117.5 million.

The plant would have an installed capacity of 110 megawatts and is expected to produce around 145.1 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. The government has initiated a negotiated procedure to determine the concession terms.

As part of the agreement, Sun Electricity would pay a one-time fee of approximately €600,000 upon signing the contract. Additionally, the company would pay a production royalty of €0.00028 per kilowatt-hour generated.

The full details regarding construction timelines and operational requirements will be outlined in the concession agreement, which is set to last 50 years.

This marks the second large-scale solar project planned for Nevesinje. In February 2023, the Government awarded a concession to local company Etmax for the €450 million Nevesinje solar power plant, a 500 MW project consisting of a 200 MW plant and six additional 50 MW units.
