The Government of Serbia has made a decision on the development of the Spatial Plan of the special purpose area of the reversible hydroelectric power plant Bistrica and the hydroelectric power plant Potpec. The decision was made at the session held on May 19.

The deadline for drafting the Spatial Plan is 12 months from the day the decision enters into force, and the funds for drafting the Spatial Plan will be provided by the Public Company Electric Power Industry of Serbia. The developer is the ministry in charge of spatial planning.

The framework border of the Spatial Plan includes parts of the municipalities of Nova Varos, Priboj and Prijepolje, as follows:

– on the territory of the municipality of Nova Varoš, the entire cadastral municipalities of Bistrica, Radoinja, Rutoši, Senište and Čelice;

– on the territory of the municipality of Priboj, the entire cadastral municipalities of Banja, Kalafati, Kratovo, Mažići and Pribojske Čelice;

– on the territory of the municipality of Prijepolje, the entire cadastral municipalities of Drenova, Kučin and Džurovo.

The final limit of the scope of the Spatial Plan will be determined by the Draft Spatial Plan.

As it is reminded, the Law on Spatial Plan of RS from 2010 to 2020 envisages the upgrade of the reversible hydroelectric power plant Bistrica within the system of power plants on Uvac and Lim, with the dam Klak downstream from the existing dam and reservoir Radoinja, as well as the possibility of increasing production by upgrading hydropower Potpec .

Also, the Energy Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia until 2025 with projections until 2030 determined that the construction of reversible hydropower plants will significantly increase the technically available potential of renewable energy sources, due to expanding the possibility of balancing forces in the system.

By the way, the tender for the development of the preliminary design and feasibility study for the construction of the reversible hydroelectric power plant Bistrica was announced at the end of last year, eKapija reports.
