The Government of the Republic of Srpska (RS) has initiated a concession process for a solar power plant near Gacko, following a proposal from the Banja Luka-based company Solar Win, which is owned by Chinese investors. The planned solar facility will have an installed capacity of 200 MW, projected to generate 260 GWh annually. While the project’s total value remains undisclosed, a similar power plant planned for Bileca, with a capacity of 140 MW, is estimated to cost over 115 million euros.
The concession area sought by Solar Win encompasses over 200 hectares in Cerica village. The Ministry of Energy and Mining has been tasked with preparing the necessary documentation, and the procedure will be conducted through the Commission for Concessions.
This initiative marks the second project for Solar Win in Gacko; earlier this year, local authorities discussed granting the company 62,000 square meters of land for a solar panel factory. However, that plan has not materialized, and recent local elections resulted in the SNSD party losing control in Gacko, potentially complicating future investment efforts.
