Bosnia and Herzegovina: HPP Visegrad reports significant drop in May 2025 electricity production

Hidroelektrane na Drini, a subsidiary of the power utility ERS that operates the Visegrad hydropower plant, announced that the plant generated 59.11 GWh of electricity in May 2025. This represents a 48% decrease compared to April 2025, when production reached 113.76 GWh. Compared to May 2024, output was slightly higher, as the plant produced 54.02 GWh during that month.

In 2024, HPP Visegrad produced a total of 733 GWh of electricity, a notable decline from the 1,224 GWh generated in 2023. So far in 2025, total electricity production at the plant stands at 446.26 GWh.

Commissioned in 1989, the Visegrad plant has an installed capacity of 315 MW, divided into three units of 105 MW each. Its average annual electricity generation is approximately 1,010 GWh, with a record production of 1,283.05 GWh achieved in 2010.
