A subsidiary of the state-owned power utility ERS, “Hidroelektrane na Trebišnjici” (HET), has generated 1,020 GWh of electricity so far this year, which is 7.5% more than the cumulative plan, exceeding the target by 70 GWh, according to Milan Mitrović, Executive Director for System Management at the company. Mitrović stated that HET is on track to meet its production goal of 1,029 GWh by the end of the week, as per the revised energy balance.

Regarding the expected production for the rest of the year, he explained that it would depend on the needs of the power system and hydrological conditions. He highlighted that hydrology this year has not met expectations, noting that only 1,350 liters of rain per square meter have fallen in the Trebišnjica river basin. This year’s precipitation has reached 83% of the long-term average, which he described as insufficient.

However, recent rainfall has partially increased the water level at the Bileća reservoir. The level has risen by 4 meters, but it remains about 6.5 meters below the planned level for this time of year. Currently, the reservoir holds 95 GWh of electricity, he concluded.
