According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,682 GWh in January 2022, compared to 2,043 GWh in the same month last year.
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 36 %, thermal power plants with 61 % and solar and wind power plants with 3 %.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 592 GWh in January 2022, which is by 32.1 % lower than in the same month in 2021. Thermal production amounted to 927 GWh, which is 9.7 % less than last January. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 50 GWh, 78.6 % more than last year.
Electricity imports rose by 10.3 % to 225 GWh in January from last year’s 204 GWh, while exports dropped by 35.9 % to 670 GWh (1,045 GWh in January 2021).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 538,000 tons in January 2022, which is by 4.7 % more compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 14 % and amounted to 514,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in January 2022 amounted to 39.14 million cubic meters, 6.8 % more compared to a year before (36.65 million cubic meters).
