According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,441 GWh in March 2022, compared to 1,699 GWh in the same month last year.
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 28.4 %, thermal power plants with 67.7 % and solar and wind power plants with 3.9 %.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 404 GWh in March 2022, which is by 44.4 % lower than in the same month in 2021. Thermal production amounted to 877 GWh, which is 5.9 % more than last March. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 56 GWh, 19.1 % more than last year.
Electricity imports rose by 22.3 % to 318 GWh in March from last year’s 260 GWh, while exports dropped by 26.6 % to 587 GWh (800 GWh in March 2021).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 655,000 tons in March 2022, which is by 23.6 % more compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 4.9 % and amounted to 522,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in March 2022 amounted to 32.63 million cubic meters, significantly higher compared to a year before (4.42 million cubic meters).
