A subsidiary of the state-owned power utility ERS, Hidroelektrane na Trebisnjici (HET), successfully met its production target in the first quarter of this year by generating 250 GWh of electricity. This achievement comes after a period of favorable rainfall, which notably improved the water levels in the Bileca reservoir. Milan Mitrovic, the Executive Director for System Management at HET, expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance thus far. He noted that while the hydrology at the end of last year was particularly poor, recent rainfall has played a crucial role in recovering the water levels in the reservoir.

In the latest rainfall cycle, approximately 250 liters of rain per square meter fell in the Trebisnjica river basin, which Mitrovic described as a positive development. This substantial rainfall allowed the company to retain every drop of water in the Bileca reservoir, ensuring stability in the system. Mitrovic also highlighted that the turbines are operating at a high level of readiness.

In terms of overall energy production, HET has exceeded its expectations. Over the past five months, it has generated 125 GWh more electricity than originally planned, helping to meet the energy system’s demands. If this extra energy were transferred to the Bileca reservoir, the water level would have reached the planned target. Currently, the water level in the reservoir remains 9.5 meters below the planned level, but the last two rainfall cycles have significantly improved the situation by raising it by 15.5 meters.

Mitrovic concluded by expressing confidence that HET will continue to meet its production and business targets throughout the year, maintaining its stability and performance as it has in previous years.
