Bosnian state-owned power utility EPBiH produced a total of 4.812 TWh of electricity in the first nine months of 2021, which is by 280.3 GWh or 6.18 % more compared to the same period last year.
Out of the total amount, thermal power plants produced 3.605 TWh, while the production at hydropower plants reached 1.142 TWh in the January-September 2021 period. Podvelezje, the only wind farm operated by EPBiH, produced 65.6 GWh of electricity.
According to the company, the operational readiness of all units of hydropower plants on the Neretva river and relatively favorable hydrological situation in the first six months of the year, enabled production which was 18.28 % above planned for the period. However, in the last three months, hydrology took the turn for the worse, and realized electricity production was 15.1 % below the plan.
Given the fact that the realized production of electricity in the first nine months of this year in at EPBiH is higher than planned (4.4 %), and the assumption that in the fourth quarter of this year favorable hydrological conditions and coal supply of thermal power plants are expected at the planned level, the company expects that the planned production of electricity will be realized according to the adopted Energy Balance for 2021.
