Bosnia’s state-owned power utility, EPBiH, has announced a tender for the procurement of 400,000 tons of coal for its Kakanj thermal power plant. The contract, valued at approximately 27.5 million euros (excluding VAT), invites interested parties to submit bids by 19 September.

The Kakanj coal-fired thermal power plant, with a total installed capacity of 578 MW, was developed in five stages beginning in 1956. The most significant expansion occurred in 1988 with the commissioning of Unit 7, which has a capacity of 230 MW and was revitalized in 2005. Currently, Units 5 and 6, each with an installed capacity of 110 MW, along with Unit 7, remain in operation.
