Bosnia and Herzegovina: Energoinvest requests 2% natural gas price reduction amid regional price increases

Natural gas importer Energoinvest has submitted a request to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) for a 2% reduction in natural gas prices for tariff customers. This request comes at a time when natural gas prices are rising both regionally and on gas exchanges.

Mirza Ustamujic, the director of Energoinvest, explained that the price reduction for the first quarter is a result of agreements with the supplier, which calculates the gas price using a gas formula instead of relying solely on exchange prices. This strategy has enabled Energoinvest to lower natural gas prices for users in the Federation, even as exchange prices rise and gas transit through Ukraine ceased on January 1, 2025.

The price reduction highlights Energoinvest’s efforts to maintain stability and offer favorable conditions for both citizens and businesses. These are challenging times, as European gas storage facilities are depleting faster than anticipated, at the highest rate since 2021, due to colder weather conditions.

If the FBiH Government approves Energoinvest’s request, this would represent the second consecutive price reduction, a significant move during the coldest days of the year when gas consumption is particularly high.
