Bosnia and Herzegovina: Electricity production in the FBiH drops in February 2025

Gross electricity production in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) totaled 617 GWh in February 2025, marking a 15.4% decline compared to 729 GWh recorded in February 2024.

Hydropower plants contributed 32.73% of the total electricity generation, while thermal power plants accounted for 61.11%. Wind farms supplied the remaining 6.16%.

Net electricity production stood at 570 GWh, with hydropower plants generating 200 GWh, thermal power plants producing 332 GWh, and wind farms contributing 38 GWh.

Electricity imports surged significantly to 191 GWh, up from 51 GWh in the same month last year. Meanwhile, electricity exports declined to 87 GWh from 123 GWh in February 2024.

In the coal sector, brown coal production fell by 1.6% to 316,897 tons, down from 321,984 tons last year. In contrast, lignite production increased by 2.6%, reaching 111,261 tons compared to 108,448 tons in February 2024.

Coke production saw a sharp decline, dropping 47.2% to 29,046 tons, down from 54,947 tons recorded in the same month last year.
