According to the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, gross electricity production in July 2025 totaled 1,082 GWh, down from 1,283 GWh in the same month last year. The energy mix consisted of hydropower with a share of 25.6 percent, thermal power 63.4 percent, and solar and wind power 11 percent.
Net production of hydropower plants reached 275 GWh in July 2025, representing a 3.2 percent decline compared to July 2024. Thermal power production amounted to 616 GWh, which is 18.8 percent lower than in the same month last year. Electricity production from renewable sources, including solar and wind, increased sharply to 119 GWh, marking a 133.3 percent rise year-on-year.
Electricity imports rose slightly to 421 GWh in July 2025, compared to 420 GWh in the same month last year, while exports fell by 11.5 percent to 584 GWh from 660 GWh in July 2024.
Production of lignite in Bosnia and Herzegovina totaled 358,000 tons in July 2025, a 12.5 percent decrease compared to the same month last year. Production of brown coal declined by 6.6 percent, reaching 437,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in July 2025 amounted to 10.35 million cubic meters, an increase of 5.3 percent compared to 9.83 million cubic meters in July 2024.
