The Commission for Concessions of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has received the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH regarding the project for the construction of hydropower plant Buk Bijela and it is up to the members of the Commission to submit their position by the end of the month.
The President of the Commission Milomir Amovic confirmed that they have received a court decision, and that he cannot say anything more at the moment.
According to experts, the decision will surely take some time and the deadlines will surely be missed, since all negotiations on this matter are currently blocked by the situation on the state level. Namely, the Commission is constantly the target of criticism due to inaction because it did not issue any concessions during its existence.
In July, the Constitutional Court, ruling on a request to resolve a dispute between the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and the Republic of Srpska (RS) over the HPP project, issued a partial decision on admissibility.
Namely, FBiH representatives made a complaint to the BiH Constitutional Court. The complaint states that the RS Government has no right to award concession for the cross-border river, which should be issued by the BiH Concession Commission. RS is developing the project with neighboring Serbia and the founding stone for the project was laid in May.
