The priority of the power utility ERS is the construction of facilities that generate electricity from renewable energy sources, which is foreseen by the development strategy of the energy sector, but also by the ten-year development plan of ERS, said General Director of the company, Luka Petrovic.
Petrovic said that the three-year business plan envisages investments worth more than 760 million euros, adding that ERS is currently engaged in five capital projects: hydropower plant Dabar, hydropower plant Bistrica, Gornja Drina hydropower system , wind farm Hrgud and solar power plant in Trebinje.
According to him, the emphasis is on the continuation of construction and completion of HPP Dabar with an installed capacity of 160 MW. The construction of the hydropower system Gornja Drina in cooperation with Serbia is also of exceptional importance for the company and the energy system of the Republic of Srpska (RS).
Regarding HPP Bistrica, ERS signed a contract with Chinese company AVIC, the value of the contract is 102 million euros and power plants will be built on a turnkey basis. Petrovic also reminded that the company obtained 64 million euros loan from German kWf Bank for 50 MW wind farm Hrgud, but due to delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the contractor for the project should be selected by the end of 2021. He also emphasized the importance of the construction of 73 MW solar power plant Trebinje I, which will produce 100,000 MWh of electricity per year and will be the largest solar power plant in the Balkans.
