The Modriča Oil Refinery plans to build a solar power plant on land located within the company’s premises, which it will use for its own needs. It plans to build a solar power plant “Photovoltaic Power Plant No. 2” with an installed capacity of up to 6.3 MWp.
In October, the Minister of Energy and Mining of the RS, Petar Đokić, and the director of the Modriča Oil Refinery Company, Vladimir Ganadijevič Oniščenko, signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources, primarily the construction of solar power plants.
The Modriča oil refinery is majority-owned by the Russian company Zarubezhneft, which in 2007 privatized the companies of the oil industry of the Republic of Srpska.
“Given the amount of energy it consumes, the energy crisis and the increase in energy prices, the company has expressed its intention and interest in investing in the construction of solar power plants and ensuring the production of electricity in that way, primarily for its own needs,” the company stated.
The Government of Republika Srpska, as it is added, has expressed its readiness to assist the investor in the realization of the project, under the applicable regulations.
