Gross electricity production in BiH amounted to 1,275 GWh in July, compared to 1,226 GWh in the same month in 2022, according to Agency for Statistics data.
In total, electricity production, hydropower plants participated with a share of 35%, thermal power plants with 62% and solar and wind power plants with 3%. Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 440 GWh in July, which is 39% higher than in the same month in 2022. Thermal production amounted to 708 GWh, which is 9% less than last July. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 36 GWh.
Electricity imports dropped by 22% to 304 GWh in July 2023 from last year’s 392 GWh, while exports also dropped by 2% to 576 GWh (587 GWh in July 2022).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 408,000 tons in July 2023, which is 22% less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 11% and amounted to 592,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in July 2023 amounted to 9.05 million cubic meters, 32.5% more than in the same month last year.
