Solar Energy of Albania (SENA), a subsidiary of the state-owned Power Corporation (KESH), has contracted a joint venture between Spain’s Gamma Solution and China’s Sungrow FPV to construct a 12.97 MW floating solar power plant on the reservoir of the Vau i Dejes hydropower plant. Established in March 2021, SENA focuses on developing this floating solar project following a loan of up to 9.75 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The joint venture will manage the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and two years of operation and maintenance for the facility. The project has also garnered support from the EU’s Western Balkans Investment Framework, with a total investment of 12.1 million euros, comprising a 2.7 million euro EU grant and a 7.5 million euro EBRD loan.
