Albanian state-owned power company KESH has launched a tender to obtain insurance coverage for two mobile gas-fired power plants and their associated infrastructure located in Vlore, with an estimated budget of around 1.8 million euros.
The 12-month insurance policy will cover two barge-mounted generation units along with the permanent facilities they depend on. These assets are leased by the US gas operator Excelerate Energy and the Italian engineering company Renco.
Although delivered in 2022, the 110 MW floating power stations are not yet operational. They will connect to Albania’s electricity grid through the nearby Vlore thermal power plant infrastructure. This project is part of Albania’s broader plan to strengthen its energy security.
