Albania’s energy regulator, the Energy Regulatory Entity (ERE), has announced plans to issue licenses for three solar power projects totaling 92.6 MW of installed capacity. The new licenses will support significant growth in the country’s renewable energy sector.

Among the projects, ERE will license SPV Blue 2, a special purpose vehicle established by local company Matrix Konstruksion and investor Blessed Investment. The 50 MW solar plant will be located near the southwestern city of Fier and represents the second phase of the larger 100 MW Blue project. The Blue 2 facility will join the recently operational Blue 1 plant, which began electricity production in May.

Additionally, ERE is issuing a license for a 40.56 MW solar power plant to Albania Power Core, a local renewable energy company, also located near Fier. A smaller 2 MW plant being developed by SRL Albania will also receive licensing approval.
