According to the data published by Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), electricity production in the third quarter of 2022 amounted to 1,371 GWh, slightly lower (0.1 %) compared to the same quarter last year.
The country’s electricity exports rose in the July- September 2022 period and amounted to 670 GWh, compared to 323 GWh in the same period in 2021, while electricity imports rose to 1,142 GWh from last year’s 975 GWh.
Some 74.8 % of Albania’s electricity production in the third quarter of 2022 was generated by state-owned hydro plants, 23.7 % by independent producers and 1.5 % by other producers (solar).
Electricity network losses decreased by 4.5 % in July-September 2022 period to 327.9 GWh, with a decrease in distribution losses (281.2 compared to 298.6 GWh in Q3 2021), while transmission losses rose to 46.7 GWh from last year’s 44.9 GWh.
