Albania registered a drop in electricity consumption of around 7% in the first half of 2023, which can be attributed to the increase in the production of electricity for own consumption and the reduction of distribution network losses, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Belluku said.
Electricity consumption in the first six months of 2023 amounted to 3.97 TWhM. Commercial consumers reported a 10% drop in consumption.
Minister Balluku said that installed capacity for self-consumption reached 120 MW at the end of June, with a significant increase in the last quarter. The capacity stood at 102 MW at the end of March.
At the same time, distribution network losses were 8% lower in the first six months compared to the same period in 2022.
