The Albanian Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure said that it has received an application for the construction of 20 MW wind farm near Gjirokastra in southern Albania. The application is submitted by a joint venture comprising of local companies EU Green Energy, A.91 and Winpharma.
In June, Albania has launched it first tender for the construction of onshore wind projects with a total installed capacity of 100 MW. Investors in individual projects with a capacity of between 10 and 75 MW should apply with their proposals for the sites of future wind farms in the first phase of the tender which is open until June 2022. The total installed capacity could be increased up to 150 MW in accordance with the country’s renewable targets. The winning projects are expected to be revealed in the first half of 2023.
The tender is launched by the Albanian Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure with the EBRD support, which also supports the Government in the introduction of competitive procurement processes for renewable energy projects.
