Electricity generation at Bulgaria’s Kozloduy nuclear power plant has been fully restored after unit 6 was reconnected to the national grid this morning, shortly before 11:00.
The reactor had been taken offline on 15 December due to a technical issue in a safety-related component located outside the nuclear section of the unit. The problem involved a protective membrane on the turbine’s steam superheater separator, prompting operators to halt the unit for replacement.
Maintenance teams completed the intervention following established technical procedures, including all necessary inspections and functional tests to verify system integrity before restarting the unit.
In line with standard protocols, unit 6 will gradually increase output and will not immediately operate at full capacity. Meanwhile, unit 5 continues to run normally and remains fully aligned with its planned operating schedule.
