Croatia is preparing to revise its gas transmission tariffs for the first time in four years. In accordance with the rules of the national energy regulator HERA, the state-owned transmission system operator Plinacro will be required to apply the updated fee structure to gas distributors and traders.
HERA has released its proposed methodology for determining the new tariffs, which is now open for public consultation. The updated fees are expected to take effect on 1 January next year. One significant change has already been confirmed: the 15% discount on LNG transmission will be eliminated.
The discount was originally introduced under European Union policy to support diversification of gas supply across the continent. In Croatia, it applied specifically to the transport of liquefied natural gas from the Krk LNG terminal into Plinacro’s transmission network. With the forthcoming tariff reform, this incentive will no longer be available.
