According to data from the Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator (ESO), electricity production in Bulgaria between January 1 and September 28, 2025, increased by 7.1% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching a total of 30.08 TWh. During the same period, electricity consumption in the country rose by 5.3%, amounting to 27.93 TWh. This resulted in net electricity exports of 2.15 TWh for 2025.

Baseload power plants, including coal and nuclear facilities, generated a total of 21.45 TWh, representing a 5.6% increase over 2024. The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network grew by 21.09%, reaching 3,165.5 GWh. In the distribution network, RES generation increased by 25.05%, totaling 3,209.2 GWh.
