The Management Board of the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency (HERA) has approved new prices for the public gas supply service for two upcoming periods: from 1 October to 31 December 2025 and from 1 January to 30 September 2026. As a result, households under the public service scheme will face a 9% increase in their gas bills starting in October.
The decision follows the government’s recent adoption of a new measures package, which includes a reduction in gas subsidies. Under the updated pricing framework, the average final price of gas for households from 1 October 2025 will be €53.8/MWh. With subsidies applied, the effective price will average €50/MWh, up from the previous subsidized level of €45.9/MWh valid until 30 September. This represents a 9% increase across all distribution areas. Without subsidies, the average price hike would have been significantly higher, at 17.3%.
HERA also reported that the procurement cost of gas for households from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026 will be €35.5/MWh (0.0355 €/kWh), a 5.3% decrease compared to the current procurement cost of €37.5/MWh (0.0375 €/kWh), valid until the end of September 2025.
Despite the decline in procurement costs, household gas prices are rising due to higher distribution charges, which had not been updated since before the COVID-19 pandemic. The distribution fee has increased from €5.9/MWh to €8.4/MWh, marking a 23% rise.
