To secure sufficient natural gas for the 2025-2026 heating season, Bulgaria’s state-owned supplier Bulgargaz has launched a tender for four liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments via the Alexandroupoli terminal in Greece. Each cargo will carry 1 million MWh, consistent with the company’s annual plan coordinated with terminal operator Gastrade.
Deliveries are scheduled for October and December 2025, as well as January and March 2026. Bulgargaz has invited 37 pre-approved international LNG producers and traders to submit bids.
Offers for the October and December 2025 shipments must be submitted by September 23, while the deadline for the January and March 2026 cargoes is October 3. Bids will be evaluated based on delivery price, timing, and payment terms.
The tender is part of Bulgaria’s 2025-2029 Management Program, which aims to strengthen national energy security. Previously, in 2024, Bulgargaz organized three tenders that secured five LNG cargoes totaling 5 million MWh, also through reserved capacity at the Alexandroupoli terminal, with deliveries spread from October 2024 to February 2025.
