Hungary: Day-ahead and intraday electricity prices drop significantly in August 2025

In August 2025, the average price of electricity on the Hungarian energy exchange HUPX day-ahead market (DAM) was 80.51 euros/MWh, marking a 22% decline from July, when the average baseload price was 102.56 euros/MWh. The average peak price on the day-ahead market fell even more sharply, reaching 57.34 euros/MWh, 34% lower than in July.

Traded volume on the day-ahead market totaled 2.57 million MWh, down 5.2% from July and 5.9% below the same month in 2024, when 2.73 million MWh were traded. The average daily volume in August was 82,923 MWh.

On the intraday market, total traded volume reached 1,171,456 MWh, 11% lower than the previous month, with an average daily traded volume of 37,789 MWh. The average price for hourly products on the intraday market stood at 73.83 euros/MWh, a 24% decrease from July.
