Bulgaria: IBEX day-ahead market sees slight volume dip in August, prices drop sharply

In August 2025, a total of 2,508,687.9 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market of the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), marking a 0.7 % decrease compared to July. The average daily traded volume reached 80,925.4 MWh.

Year-on-year, traded volume was up by 5 % compared to August 2024. The average baseload price stood at 75.83 euros/MWh, down 25 % from July’s 101.13 euros/MWh, while the average peak price dropped by 40.8 % to 49.58 euros/MWh.

There were 139 registered participants on the IBEX day-ahead market in August, four more than the previous month.

On the intraday continuous market, a total of 437,593.9 MWh was traded, representing a 10.4 % decline from July. The average weighted price fell by 39 % to 62.59 euros/MWh.
