For the first time since its reconstruction following the 1999 NATO bombing, the fuel storage site near Pozega is set to add two new tanks, each with a capacity of 2,500 cubic meters. The expansion is included in an Urban Development Project currently on public display by the Municipality of Pozega.

The Pozega depot originally consisted of nine tanks with a total capacity of 37.5 million liters. It was destroyed in 1999 and rebuilt ten years later. In 2009, four additional tanks were commissioned at the Zdravcici site, adding 20,000 cubic meters and bringing total storage capacity to 32,700 cubic meters.

Sixteen years later, the next expansion phase will add two more tanks for gasoline and diesel, integrated with the existing infrastructure. The Directorate for Commodity Reserves is the project investor.

At the same time, the state is increasing oil product storage capacity in Smederevo fourfold. Eight new tanks of 20,000 cubic meters each are under construction, raising the site’s total capacity to 120,000 cubic meters. According to the Ministry of Energy, the work was 99 percent complete as of April, with Prime Minister Djuro Macut stating that the project is expected to be fully delivered by 2027.
