Romania: OX2 sells 96 MW wind farm to Helleniq Renewables backed by long-term PPA

Supported byClarion Energy

OX2 has agreed to sell a 96 MW onshore wind farm in eastern Romania to Helleniq Renewables, a subsidiary of Greek company Helleniq Energy. The project is backed by a long-term virtual power purchase agreement (PPA) with international retailer Ahold Delhaize.

The wind farm will feature 15 Vestas turbines, each with a capacity of 6.4 MW. Construction is planned to start in the third quarter of 2025, with commercial operations expected to commence in 2027. The 12-year virtual PPA arranged by OX2 will cover over 50% of the wind farm’s anticipated electricity production.

By bringing the project to an investment-ready stage and securing a stable offtake agreement, OX2 is expanding its pipeline in Romania while contributing to the country’s renewable energy development and energy transition goals.
