Solar energy developer GoldenPeaks Capital has completed and connected two new solar power plants in Hungary, contributing a total of 92 MW of installed capacity to the country’s energy system.
The larger of the two, the Zemplén solar power plant near Bodroghalom, has a capacity of 64.56 MW and has been fully operational since March. It marks GoldenPeaks Capital’s first renewable energy project to go online in Hungary. In addition to supplying clean electricity to the grid, the plant supports grid stability by providing ancillary services such as participation in the automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR). Its electricity output is secured through a long-term power purchase agreement with Danish food packaging company Faerch.
A second solar facility near Nyékládháza has begun commercial operation with the connection of its first block. Once fully completed, it is expected to reach a capacity of 27.56 MW and is already feeding electricity into Hungary’s day-ahead power market.
Combined, the two plants are projected to generate 134.6 GWh of electricity per year—enough to meet the average annual consumption of more than 43,000 households. Both sites utilize bifacial solar panels mounted on single-axis tracking systems to maximize energy yield. Project development, engineering, and operations are managed by Spectris Hungary, GoldenPeaks’ in-house subsidiary.
GoldenPeaks Capital’s founder and chairman, Adriano Agosti, described the projects as a tangible reflection of the company’s sustainability vision—scalable, intelligent solar solutions executed to the highest standards. He also highlighted the crucial role of both internal teams and external partners in advancing the clean energy transition across Central and Eastern Europe.
